May 3 Workshop in Los Angeles
Dear all,
We are pleased to announce a second workshop opportunity geared toward the biological/aeromedical science community. Following the successful model used for our December workshop, we will hold this second workshop in parallel with an annual meeting that many of the targeted science community may well plan to attend: the 80th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Aerospace Medical Association will be held May 3-7, 2009, at the Westin Bonaventure hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The workshop is being cosponsored by the Personal Spaceflight Federation, the Universities Space Research Association, and NASA Ames Research Center.
Our intent is to engage a new sector of the science community and further the ongoing interchange between the science community and the providers.
Of course, attendance at the ASMA meeting is not connected in any way to our workshop and all interested parties are free to attend the workshop whether or not they attend the ASMA meeting.
We plan to emphasize science potential of commercial suborbital platforms in the areas of: gene expression, space biology, aero medical issues in a space environment and other related fields. The workshop should provide ample opportunity to discuss, in depth, the science potential of these new platforms with those who design and fly them.
The workshop will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles, California. To assist with our preparations, please RSVP by contacting Lisa Chu-Thielbar before April 26, 2009 at lisa.chu-thielbar@nasa.gov. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
The Commercial Suborbital Research Program
